How to Remove Hard Coded Subs From a Video

Posted by marco

Once i downloaded a korean movie using torrent, i was too reckless, i didn't realize that i downloaded a chinese hard-subbed version. I thought of redownloading another file, but it was too big for me, and my internet connection is very slow here, so i come up with an idea of removing that hard-coded subtitle and add a soft english subtitle in it.

So, i try and search how i can do this, finally i found out how to do it the easiest way and probably the most effective too. I use "MSU Subtitle Remover" plugin from VirtualDub.
Here's how i do it, just follow the steps below:

- Download: VirtualDub -> Install the application.
- Download: MSU Subtitle Remover -> Extract to: ...\VirtualDub\plugins\msu_subtitle_remover.vdf
- Run: VirtualDub.exe
- File -> Open video file...     // choose the desired video file
- Video -> Filters... -> Add... -> MSU Subtitle Remover -> OK

remove hard sub from video

- OK -> OK

remove hard sub from video 1

- Video -> Filters... -> Configure...
remove hard sub from video 2

- OK -> OK
- Video -> Compression... -> x264vfw - H.264/MPEG-4 AVC codec -> OK
- File -> Save as AVI...
remove hard sub from video 3

Done, try that out and let me know how it work out for you...
Also if you happens to have a better method, feel free to share, leave comments below it'll be much apreciated ^_^
